Practices
We parents to remind swimmers how to behave during practice, if necessary they should stand at the end of the lanes.
Home meets
We need lots of volunteers during home meets - Set-Up: we need people to put lane lines in, backstroke flags, set up chairs, etc.
- Parking captain: directs visiting team to our parking lot, and our team to the adjacent lot or the neighborhood streets.
- Starter: starts all of the races; requires 2 years experience
- Referee: works with the stroke and turn judges to make sure people are swimming the correct strokes
- 4 stroke and turn judges (2 per half; position requires training)
- 10 timers (5 per half): paired with a parent from the other team, they time swimmers as they race
- Head Timer (1 per half): supports the timers; serves as a check and balance
- Place Judge (1 per half): sits at the end of the pool and declares who has placed first, second, third, etc.
- Runners (2 per half): run time sheets and place sheets to the scoring table
- Clerk of Course (1 per half): checks kids when they are lined up on the bench for their races
- Announcer: announces races, winners of racers, etc.
- Scorers (2 per half): they take the place sheets and time sheets and record the results of the races.
- Snack Bar (8 per meet): this is our main way to generate income for the team.
- Break-down: we need people to take down the lane lines, the backstroke flags, and put the chairs back to normal.
- Reporter: We need someone to report the score both to the suburban swim league and to the News Journal.
Away meets

We need volunteers to act as officials for our swim meets. In order to be a referee, starter or stroke and turn official, people need to attend a free training session. These are listed below and also on the Suburban Swim League website .

Every Head Coach is required to attend.
| | Saturday, June 11 | Stroke & Turn Officials, Referee & Starter Clinic, 8:00 am Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club 109 Glasgow Drive, Newark, DE 19702. Additional parking is located in the Food Lion. Participants will be split into groups based on experience.

We need people to coordinate social activities. - We might need volunteers to get and serve treats.
- We might need a grown up to watch kids while other parents have a meeting.
