Swim Team - "The Slugs"
The
2009 season was a BLAST! Head Coach Kelly Reynolds and Assistant
Coaches Matt Davis, Ian McCampbell, and Cliff Hegedus led our team with
enthusiasm and love. All Coaches were Hands-On throughout the entire
season, in the water with the kids SHOWING them exactly what they needed to
know. The rapport between the Team and Coaches was just wonderful to see.
The teamwork of Moms and Dads was amazing too. Timers, Stroke and Turn
Judges, Place Judges, Referees, Starters, Snack Bar staff and cooks
("Taco-in-a-bag, anyone?!"), setup / teardown / cleanup, drive to the meet,
bring all the gear, every Wednesday and every Saturday. You guys are
AWESOME. Thank you very much!
But the STARS are definitely our kids. Each
one of our athletes worked hard. They worked OUT. They worked on
their strokes. They worked on their turns. They worked on their
starts. They worked on their endurance. And they worked at
having fun. The Coaches were constantly communicating -- because these
kids wanted to do everything they could for themselves and their friends.
And each swimmer put it out there, doing the very best they could every event,
every meet. WAY TO GO SLUGS!

Please note that you must be a member / rental member of the pool in order to join the team. Our team includes swimmers of all ages, abilities, and experience levels! As long as you can swim the length of the pool you can join the team. While swim team helps build self-confidence and improve swimming ability, it is a great way for the kids to meet "pool friends." We have a GREAT group of kids who enthusiastically welcome new members.
Participation Fee
- First swimmer per family, $45
- Additional swimmers in same family, $40 each
If you are not a team member, please make plans to join us for the 2010 season. Why? There is a real sense of teamwork within this group. Many of the kids become each other's best friends. There
is great support for alls swimmer, whether just starting out or leading their events or age groups. The
same can be said for the team of parents who volunteer as timers, judges, snack bar host and hostesses, and so on. The junior coaches make the similar contributions in time and energy to support the Oaklands Slugs. Altogether, it is a wonderful group of people who provide a great environment for kids to have fun, exercise, discipline, and some friendly competition as well. It
would be a delight to have you join us.
