Registration for the 2025 Swim Team is currently OPEN.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to enforcing policies and procedures, which ensure efficient and effective operation of pool facilities including personnel management and training. Duties involves oversight of all swimming pool operations, including first aid, staff position rotations, scheduling for staff, party and pavilion reservations, limited pool maintenance including daily chemical analysis/testing, pool cleaning, operation of the concession stand, guest check-in, cleaning of bathrooms & concession stand area and all other duties as necessary or required. This employee should have excellent organizational, communication, and public relation skills. This is a working supervisory position requiring weekend and holiday work. The pool will be open from Memorial Day through labor day 12 noon to 9 pm seven days a week, and occasional off-hour events scheduled upon request. Pay Rate will be $20/hr.
Requirements:
Current/Valid Lifeguard Certification for duration of season
Age: 20 years or older preferred
Roles & Responsibilities:
Scheduler: Create adequate staffing plan to provide adequate coverage for pool operation and maintain records of timecards for payroll (Staffing load suggestions will be made by Pool board as a starting point.)
Pool Rental Coordination: In coordination with the Membership Chair and Treasurer, the pool manager, we review pool rental requests and schedule appropriate guard staff for the event.
Supervision and Mentoring: Provide an example of appropriate behavior and set standards for pool cleanliness and upkeep. Make sure daily opening and closing checklists are completed.
Training: With the assistance of Oaklands Staffing Manager, develop and implement a training program for lifeguard staff. Evaluate guard/pool needs throughout the summer and provide additional training if needed.
Lifeguarding: Actively monitor pool activity for life safety, enforce pool safety rules and regulations, and promote a safe environment for pool activities. Senior guards mentor Jr. Lifeguards.
Pool Operation: Monitor, record, and report on the pool water conditions and operations as required by the Department of Health and public pool regulations. Attend pool maintenance/orientation and request further orientation/training if pool maintenance requirements are in question. Submit pool chemical needs to Pool Board Building & Grounds Representative
Facility Operation: Set-up and remove pool furnishings, tables, and umbrellas on a daily basis. Inspect and clean restroom facilities and stock supplies as required. Water flower pots and remove/maintain trash receptacles as required.
Snack Bar Attendant: Operates a pool snack bar for members and guests for 15 minute intervals per hour.
Entrant Registration: Greet and acknowledge pool members and their guests. Collect guest fees from member’s guests.
Promote Family Environment: Greet and promote friendly atmosphere at the Oaklands Swim Club.
Daily Tasks/Routines: Perform daily tasks as requested to maintain pool, facilities, and property.
Working Conditions: Manual labor is required. Extreme weather conditions and working with chemicals are factors in this position.
Physical Requirements: Able to manually move, lift, carry, or push heavy objects. Climbing in and out of the swimming pool, up and down ladders.
Communication Skills: Employees should have the ability to express or exchange ideas with the pool manager by means of verbal and written communication. As well as the ability to convey detailed or important instructions to other employees and the general public.
Supervision: Oaklands Staffing Director, Followed by additional Oaklands Board members
